Force Recon are one of the United States Marine Corps’ operations forces that give crucial components of military insight to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, supporting their team officers and the subordinate working units of the Fleet Marine Force. Generally, the Force Recon units perform both surveillance and direct activity operations. A few missions are currently shared by the Marine Special Operations Teams, because of the founding of the U.S. MARSOC in 2006. MARSOC was developed from Force Recon’s immediate activity detachments, and now perform a large number of the same mission sets for USSOCOM. This double presence now permits the FORECON organizations to concentrate on essential fact gathering missions.
